On the 17th November 2025, the UK Government are asking you for more money! Some of the most vulnerable people in the country will need to pay even more. Lasting Power of Attorney application fees will increase from £82 to £92 per application. The previous Conservative Government reduced these fees from an eye watering £150 per Lasting Power of Attorney to the current £82 as they felt these fees where unjustified and out of reach of too many people.
Further to this increase HMCTS or the Probate service, have increased the additional copies of a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration from £1.50 by almost 1000% to £16 per copy. These fees come at a time when people are grieving or having a difficult time managing their affairs.
(For Lasting Powers of Attorney, you may still be eligible for a reduction or a full fee waiver if your circumstances qualify due to low income or you are in receipt of certain DWP benefits).
At the time of writing this blog, we are preparing for further challenges with a budget due later this month. Watch this space!
